Home Cooking for Kids

I seldom cook after I got married. My cooking skill has deteriorated from high school to kindergarten lever over the years. LOL!

But I decided to get back to cooking once in a while, especially on Sundays because MIL will be "on leave" and gai gai, so the kitchen is available for my experiments. :P

We went to Cold Storage last night, and I bought salmon and broccoli because my kids are very fan tong. They love rice. I can't just feed them plain white rice right? So, to make cooking easier and nutritious as well, I go for fish.

Ok, here are the ingredients:

I marinated the salmon with teriyaki sauce for about 20 minutes. You don't have to do this but I wanted to try out the sauce. I used olive oil for cooking since I'm getting more health conscious these days. :P

Oh, this is the part I scared the most about cooking-----frying a fish!!! I always scared of being scalded by the oil, and frankly, I always get it!!! Just hate it. I told you I'm a lousy cook right? LOL! Gee, I don't know if there will be scars left behind on my arm...

After the fish was ready, just put the broccoli and sweet corn in boiling water for a while. That's the way we cook vegetable at home most of the time.

So, what was the end result?

The fish was slightly burnt in one side because I couldn't turn it immediately. Damn, got scald again when I was trying to do that. :P But the inner part was nice. Just nice!

After that, I proceed to debone the fish, and cut the broccoli in small pieces. Voila! Just add rice in and I could feed the kids already. Very simple meal huh? But it seemed like a major operation to a lousy cook like me. So, next time, I better don't cook when I go for vacation and stay in one of the homes from Orlando vacation rental. I may really burn down a house. LOL!
